The Inside Scoop...

I am aware that I have quite the catching up to do on this blog!  The past month has flown by and I have been terrible about keep things up to date.  I thought we would give you some pictures of what this little person looks like...I know that these are pictures only a mother and father could adore..(and maybe a few grandparents!)...but we wanted to share them just the same.
Just a Little Blob...
It is amazing how God creates life.  When we first found out we were pregnant it was hard for us to believe it to be true.  The only indication of this being real was how nauseous I felt all the time.  Then we got to see this tiny little beating heart and hear its constant rhythm.  I'll admit, the first viewing wasn't much to look at, but to see these first signs of life was simply amazing.

1:1 Ratio of Head to Body...
After a month or so we returned to take a second look at our baby and he/she was clearly taking on more human form.  As you can see, "little bean" has quite the noggin and even a small body with tiny arms and legs.  It was then that our little baby waved his/her first hello!  It is incredible how this little being continues to grow and develop.  We are excited to continue to watch this little life grow and someday soon discover the personality and character that he or she beholds.

The next month or so, this little one left us with quite a few scares.  We had to take two unscheduled trips to the doctor just to make sure everything was okay.  It turned out that a separation between the placenta and uterine wall had formed as well as some blood clotting.  The doctor prescribed a form of bed rest and gave me several different drugs to help prevent the problem from getting worse.  When we went in for our 16 week check up, we felt like we were experiencing a first hand miracle because the doctor could no longer find any sort of separation!  We are so thankful that this little one is healthy and save and I am so happy to be able to go back to somewhat of a normal routine.  I realized that the couch life was not for me...apparently I get bored easily.

 Spine of Steel...
At 16 weeks we could see so many tiny little bones...I think this baby may even have his/her daddy's sturdy jaw!  While we were watching, little bean was impressing us with push-ups.  We were told that the bones inside the ear have started to form and soon our voices will  heard.  From the top of the head to the bottom of the rump this little one measures about 4 inches...so roughly the size of a bell pepper or avocado!

So this is what I look like.  Excuse the sweats and T-shirt.  It was a crafty Saturday and I didn't feel like dressing up for the camera.  But as you can see...the baby bump is beginning to pop!  Not only am I and the baby growing, but our collection of baby gear is also starting to grow.  The past couple of weeks we were given some sweet little sleepers, a changing table and a wonderful crib with mattress!  We feel so blessed.  I also couldn't resist the urge to buy a few onesies myself.  Nate and I keep staring at these little baby clothes, amazed that there will actually be a body to fill them at some point!  At our check-up this month, the doctor also gave us a hint on the gender of this little one... but won't make an official call until the 20 week ultrasound.  Any guesses?
